Remembering Daniel's Journey

Where minimalism meets mastery
At MARFA, we honor the sacred relationship between earth and spirit. Each bottle captures the essence of wild agave, nurtured by Mexican sun and transformed through centuries-old tradition.
Our commitment to minimalism extends beyond design—it's a philosophy that preserves the authentic character of mezcal, allowing its natural complexity to speak without interference.
Pure expression of wild agave, aged under Mexican sun.
Each crafted from a distinct agave varietal, honoring its terroir and the hands that shaped it.

Tasting Notes
Sweet peanut and piloncillo dance with notes of honey and volcanic smoke. A complex finish reveals hints of dark chocolate and earthy minerality.
MARFA emerges from the convergence of ancient craft and contemporary vision. Our mezcal is not merely distilled—it's curated, each batch a testament to the delicate balance between honoring tradition and embracing refinement.
In sun-drenched landscapes where time moves differently, our maestros mezcaleros practice an art passed down through generations, now elevated through a lens of minimalist perfection.

La Primavera
They used to go to La Primavera, in Atotonilco Jalisco, where his Father and Julio González Estrada talked about tequila. Daniel played around the distillery during childhood—Tres Magueyes was home.
Years after traveling to New York and meeting Andy Warhol, he decided in 1989 to study Art at the KunstAkademie in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The Revelation
"I do not like tequila! I like Mezcal. I only drink Mezcal, and you must take the best Mezcal to the World."
— Immendorff said to Daniel
The Quest
Upon returning to Mexico, he took on the task of finding the best Mezcal through all the Country. After years, he moved to San Francisco.
One day, his first stop in Texas was Marfa—the place where art is born only as a maguey in the middle of the desert.
