Durangesis
Wild Cenizo agave aged 12-15 years in the highlands of Durango.
Tasting Notes
Sweet peanut and piloncillo dance with notes of honey and volcanic smoke. A complex finish reveals hints of dark chocolate and earthy minerality.
Process
Cooked with volcanic rock and mesquite wood, fermented with wild yeasts, and double distilled in copper pot stills.

Daniel's Journey
Remembering his past is like approaching the history of Mexico, rather the History of the land—the land of Mezcal.
And that is how it happened.
Origins
Having been born in the Great Tenochtitlan, he moved to León Guanajuato. The land of his Father was of San Julián Jalisco, and grew up among Tequila and Magueyes.
La Primavera
They used to go a lot to La Primavera, in Atotonilco Jalisco, where his Father and Julio González Estrada were talking about tequila and friends all the time. Daniel used to play around the distillery with his brothers and sisters during their childhood—and their visits to Tres Magueyes was home for them.
Art & Destiny
Years after having traveled to New York and meeting Andy Warhol accidentally, made the decision in 1989 to study Art at the KunstAkademie in Düsseldorf, Germany, where the Artist Joseph Beuys had taught, looking for his legacy.
He became a friend of the student of Beuys, the famous artist of the Neue Wilde Jörg Immendorff, and one day he decided to give to Immendorff a bottle of the most aged Tequila from Tres Magueyes.
And at the time of giving him the bottle, he said...
The Revelation
Immendorff:
"I do not like tequila!"
He stared looking at him in a very calm way, surprised why he didn't like such a great Spirit.
And Immendorff told him, looking into his eyes:
"I like Mezcal,
I only drink Mezcal,
and you must take
the best Mezcal to the World."

The Quest Begins
Upon returning to Mexico, he took on the task of finding the best Mezcal through all the Country.
After years he moved to San Francisco California. One day, he wanted to know the state of Texas and his first stop was Marfa Texas—the place where art is born only as a maguey in the middle of the desert.

And that's the Story with Mezcal—it's amazing how from a process that looks pretty simple comes such a great Spirit.
